Other numbers are also impressive - a staff of 250 and a yearly revenue targe of 100 million CHF. A little remembered fact - 39-year old Ettl’s SkyCell raised over 15 million USD in an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) back in 2018 under the brand Smart Containers.

Get a “behind-the-scenes look” at how Swiss millionaires - and other businesses - are working today.

And how they make Switzerland the most successful country in the world.

Robert Plantak

With real estate being such a huge asset class in Switzerland, it is no surprise that Robert Plantak’s Crowdhouse has enjoyed great success - and made him a pile of money (10-20 million CHF). The “fractional investment” scheme has been popular among young investors who like a digital offering. Plantak has faced some hot water, however, over incorrectly-calculated management fees in the buildings owned by Crowdhouse. Having a personality as “rich” and famous as Francisco Fernandez (founder of Avaloq) on his side has also certainly helped Plantak get ahead.

Belinda Benic

Belinda Benic

The 27-year old tennis star from Flawil, broke into the WTA Top 10 in 2015 and reached place number 4 in 2020. She added a gold metal at the Tokyo Olympics to her repertoire in the same year. Teralytic’s investors include Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Deutsche Bahn Digital Ventures, Lakestar and Atomico.

Nathalie Albin-Jacobs

Despite a privileged background as a member of the Jacobs family (of coffee and chocolate fame), Nathalie Albin-Jacobs has branched out on her own with Nübee, a healthy and cost-effective baby-food brand she launched in 2017. Outside of his business ventures, Noah enjoys sports like American football and is interested in cryptocurrency.

Pierre Biver with his father Jean-Claude

Pierre Biver

What’s in a name? A lot of family history - and know-how - as it turns out for Pierre Biver. The son of legendary horological entrepreneur (and sometime business “savior”) Jean-Claude Biver, Biver the younger naturally followed in his father’s footsteps. Using the family name, Pierre set out to create ultra-exclusive watches, the first of which cost a cool 500k CHF. With a slightly more affordable line of timepieces now in production, Biver can look to add to his inherited wealth, which is estimated at up to 50mn CHF.

With profitability in view next year (2025), the sky is the limit thereafter.

Stefanie Flückiger-Mangual

Education was a good start for Stefanie Flückiger-Mangual, co-founder of Tolremo. In 2023, Flückiger-Mangual’s Tolremo closed its Series A funding round with an investment of 34mn CHF led by BioMedPartners, giving its co-founder an estimated wealth of 5-10mn CHF.

Joel Roos

Close ties to ETH Zurich have also helped Joel Roos, whose company Vay uses software to digitize and capture (and analyze) human movement, with major use cases in fitness and sport. The firms was successful enough to be aquired by Nautilus Inc. in 2021 for a price of just over 30mn CHF. Roos has since joined venture firm QBIT Capital.

Ciril Stebler

One key for Ciril Stebler was getting started young. At age 18, he founded Velocorner, a bicycle marketplace that now counts over 400 retailers as customers.
